About Us
Since 1997, our family has been caring for dogs with love and expertise. What started as a simple grooming service in Wapello, Iowa, has grown into a full-service home away from home for your furry family members right here in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.
We have 3 full-time groomers with nearly 30 years of experience, a self-service dog washing station for those quick much needed summer baths, a retail store, and our luxurious doggy resort!
The way we see it, if you’re headed on vacation, your dog deserves one too!
Our boarding facility is more like a resort than a kennel. Every room is custom-built and our suites come with cozy regular beds and even TVs for our guests. No cages, no stress! Just comfort, playtime, and of course, plenty of love!
Located just off Highway 72, we’re easy to find and even easier to trust with your best friend. Whether it’s a fresh groom or a relaxing stay, we treat every dog like our own.

Our commitment to cleanliness
How we keep our boarding facility fresh, safe, and welcoming for every guest.

When you check your dog in for boarding, their room has been hand scrubbed from top to bottom with soap and water. Then we disinfect every surface, and finish by cleaning the floors twice to make sure no hair, dirt, or food is left behind from our last furry guest.

At Tails Up, we take advanced steps to control airborne droplets and keep illnesses like kennel cough from spreading. Our MERV 13 filters catch fine particles in all 5 of our units, while two ERV systems bring in fresh air all day long. UV lighting in the HVAC units helps neutralize pathogens, and two Carrier air purifiers work around the clock. Plus, a large exhaust fan runs twice daily to clear the air.

Throughout the day, we keep every room fresh and comfortable. When a dog has an accident, we clean it up right away. Each time we take a pup out, we sweep away any hair or food, then refill their water and food bowls. And after playtime, we wash every bowl and toy that was used so everything’s ready for the next round.

Unfortunately, we can’t prevent everything. Even with all of our precautions, viruses can still find their way in from time to time. When that happens, we tell our clients right away and take immediate steps to get it out of the facility as fast as possible.

When a virus does show up, we go into overdrive. We separate playtime groups, swap out all the air filters, and run our fresh-air systems around the clock. Cleaning gets doubled or even tripled! Every room, toy, and bowl gets a deep clean two or three times a day until it’s gone.

At Tails Up Pet Resort & Spaw, our dog grooming services combine skilled care, gentle handling, and professional products to keep your dog healthy, comfortable, and looking their best. Our certified groomers are experienced with all breeds and coat types and tailor each appointment to your dog’s needs and temperament.

Small Dogs
You can walk in anytime and use our self-service dog wash! No appointment needed! We provide the shampoo, conditioner, towels, drying stations and anything else you may need to get your pup all clean!

Big Dogs
Not only do we provide all of the supplies, but we also clean up the mess after you’re all finished up! No more using the guest room bathtub or having a wrestling match in the backyard with your pup and the water hose!

We require three vaccines here at Tails Up! Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella. All three vaccines must be given at least two weeks before your dogs stay with us.

We always recommend booking as far in advance as possible, especially during holidays and summer months. All of our rooms are first come first serve and we have a 48-hour cancellation policy. As long as you call at least 48 hours prior to your stay you can cancel your reservation at no charge.

The short answer is anything! We allow up to four belongings! And those four things can consist of treats, beds, toys, bones, slow feeders, and pretty much anything else you can think of!

That is totally up to you! At Tails Up we offer a huge outdoor play yard for group play and 6 privacy yards for the pups that like to enjoy some sun by themselves. If it’s your pup’s first time boarding with us and you aren’t sure, we are always willing to safely try them out with others!

Monday 8am - 5pm
Sunday Closed
Our normal operating hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 8-6. On Monday’s our lobby, self-service, and boarding are open, but our grooming is closed. On Sunday’s we are closed but we have drop off and pick up hours for boarding. Those hours are 10am - 11am and 2pm to 4pm.
